LAWRENCE LIVERMORE GEARBOX

Sometimes simpler is better! A five-week engineering project focused on designing and developing a custom gearbox capable of rotating a 10-lb load through 180 degrees. The gearbox was engineered to reliably transfer power to the hopper mechanism of a powder bed fusion metal 3D printer. This project was sponsored by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
